Suburbs THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER Wednesday, April 25, 2001 Death Notices ABELL MARGARET LAIRD, 85, died April 18, 2001 in Pennswood Village, Newtown, after a 20-year battle with Crohn's disease. She was born Sept. 8, 1915 in Cynwvd and lived in Lower Merion and Phila. until she moved to Pennswood in 1991. A 1933 graduate of Lower Merion High School, she worked as a secretary for Drexel Co.

before leaving to have children in 1947. Widowed in 1956, she worked in customer service for DyDee Wash, returned to Drexel in 1960, and then joined Miller, Anderson Sherrod (now part of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter) at its formation. She evaluated portfolio values for banks and institutional clients, and retired in 1988. She served as a volunteer driver for cancer patients and volunteer counselor for colostomy patients. Her first marriage to William Buehl ended in divorce, and her marriages to James F.

Ryan and Charles M. Abell were ended by their deaths. She is survived by two daughters, Margaret L. Ryan of Alexandria, VA and Joan M. Boyd of Doviestown, and grandchildren Jennifer L.

Boyd of Boston, and Franklin J. R. Mossburg of Washington, D.C. A memorial service will be held at Pennswood Village, April 28, 3-5 P.M. Donations in lieu flowers to Crohn's Colitis Foundation of America or the American Cancer Society are welcomed.

Bessie formerly lived in Reading and Philadelphia, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents Wesley and Matilda (Roberts) Battle and sister Doris McClain. She was a graduate of Reading Senior High Class of 1955 and Cheney State University, Class of 1964. She was a teacher in the Philadelphia School District for 20 vears, retiring in 1984. She also was a certified Doll Artisan, a member of the American Sewing Guild and the Tucson Quilters Guild, Inc.

and will always be remembered for her doll making and quilting skills and teaching the crafts to many members of her family. Surviving are 3 sisters, Sarah Hines, with whom she last resided and Alice Smith, both of Tucson, AZ and Evelyn Harris of Philadelphia, PA, one brother, James Battle of Pottstown, PA; a special friend Bill Hill of Newtown, PA and a host of nieces and nephews. WHEELER FUNERAL HOME LIBERATORE EDWARD C. LIBERATORE, family man and professional baseball scout, died suddenly on April 21, 2001, from complications following surgery. Mr. Liberatore was 87 vears old and had enjoyed good health. Mr. Liberatore was a well known and highly regarded basebell scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds and ended his 60 year career with the Baltimore Orioles, he resided for the past 5 vears at Oak Crest Village in Baltimore and for over 40 years before moving back to the Baltimore area in Abington, Pa. LYONS, USAF age 70, passed on Sunday, April 22, 2001, in San Antonio, born in Pa. on Aug. 15, 1930, a graduate of LaSalle High School in Phila. in 1948 and LaSalle College in 1963 and the University of Colorado in 1970, he served his country for 26 vears in the U.S. Air Force, having received numerous medals and citations during those vears, his hobbies included golfing and armchair sports.

His family and friends will miss him dearly. ZACIERKA April 24, 2001, ADAM age 77, at home with his family, of complications due to prostate cancer, husband of the late Catherine T. (nee Collins) and father of Adam N. Zaccaria, Jr. (Donna) and Michele Donahoe (Thomas); also survived by his grandchildren Quinn and Ailaura, brother of Hugo Zaccaria, Edith Mastrovito and Clara Oliveri. Mr.

Zaccaria was the voungest of 10 children and a 1952 graduate of the Univ. of PA School of Business. He was a WWII Veteran who served during the Battle of the Bulge. He also served as VP at Mellon Bank for 42 years and as VP at First Union Bank for 14 vears which he considered a milestone. At the time of his death he was a treasure and consultant of Fluid Energy.

Mr. Zaccaria was awarded a citation from Phila. City Council for his contributions to the citizens in our community through the Community Care Center. He also held a real estate license. Mr.
