call two hours before the services. Elaine Laura Obey Elaine Laura Murray Obey, a retired supervisor for the Immigration and Naturalization Service office in Philadelphia, died Saturday. She was 75 and lived in Germantown. Obey was employed by the federal government for more than 30 years before retiring about 13 years ago as supervisor of records in the Philadelphia regional office of INS. Originally from Egg Harbor Township, N.J., she attended Langston College in Lang-ston, Okla.

After retiring, Obey and her husband of 49 years, Charles Obey, traveled extensively and often wintered in Puerto Rico. Obey belonged to the Awbury Arboretum and the Little Old Ladies social club. She also is survived by a sister-in-law, Rosa E. Murray, and two nephews, Arthur W. Murray and Gregory J.

Murray. Services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Julian V. Hawkins Funeral Home, 53rd Street and Haverford Avenue, where friends may call two hours before the services. Catherine Reynolds Services were to be held this morning for Catherine Elizabeth "Cat" Reynolds, a nurse's aide and evangelist, who died Sunday.

She was 47 and lived in Germantown. Originally from Georgia, Reynolds came to Philadelphia at a young age. She became a member of the Holy Ground Church of God in Christ, where she was an evangelist and a member of the church's East District Missionary Meeting. For a time, Reynolds operated her own day-care center. Her last job was as a nurse's aide.

A family member said Reynolds was "a very spiritual, loving and devoted mother and kind sister. She was blessed to touch the lives of many people and had a great deal of respect, and interest in, her church and church family She was a lover of all children." Survivors include a son, John Wesley Smith; four daughters, Sa-lathia Washington, Denean Porter, Rosetta Dunston and Alicia Renae Van Bever Houdt; three brothers, John Rountree, James and Willie; two sisters. Overseer Jessie Corbin-Hunter and Carolyn Gore; nine grandchildren; and a devoted friend, Sherman McCloud. Services were to be held at 11 a.m. today at the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, 14 E.

Fannie McKethan Funeral services for Fannie Elizabeth McKethan will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saints Memorial Baptist Church, Warner Avenue, Bryn Mawr. McKethan, 89, was a former resident of Philadelphia. Her late husband was Frank McKethan.

Friends may call one hour before the services. frv Jim Nicholson Daily News Staff Writer Alvin A. Nurse, a retired federal employee and a man of many and varied interests, died Monday. He was 70 and lived in West Philadelphia. Nurse had been a clerk at the Aviation Supply Depot on Robbins Avenue and retired in 1983 with 30 years service.

For many years he was a freelance photographer, a ham radio operator (KA3MHL), a CBer Al." KLAH26S). a computer enthusiast and active in his church. He amazed his children, especially in later life when he plunged into the 'world of computers. "For a man who didn't go to four years of college, he was deep into it," said Kenneth Nurse, one of Nurse his sons and a technical supervisor at KYVV-AM, "much further than any of his friends and he knew a lot." Nurse was generous with his talents. He would take photos of neighborhood kids and prom night couples at cost.

He had been a member of the choir, a cantor and vestryman at St. George's Episcopal Church, but he also had unofficial titles of cook, plumber and carpenter. He spent a lot of nights and off-hours at the church doing such work, said his son. "He was a very moral man," said young Nurse. "He was very proud, also.

He was always eager to help anybody in the neighborhood at any time." Raised in Atlantic City, Nurse graduated from high school there and attended Bok Vocational-Technical High School. He also took evening courses at Drexel University. During World War II, he served in the Army and participated in the Normandy invasion, where he was wounded and spent 10 months in the hospital. He was awarded the Purple Heart and four battle stars. "He was a very devoted father," said Ken Nurse.

"He always supported his children. He never left us to want for anything, and he was an avid believer in Christmas, in giving somebody a gift for Christmas. We generally always got what we wanted, if we deserved it, at Christmas Nurse was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Signal Scanners of America, and was a past president of Fish Finders, a social club. He is also survived by his wife of 43 years, the former Hazel Palmer; another son, Alvin three grandchildren, Nevin, Joy and Lydia; a brother, Owen Nurse; and a sister, Thelma Butler. Services will be held at 11 a.m.

Tuesday at St George's Episcopal Church, West End, 61st Street and Hazel Avenue, where friends may.
