Joseph E. Slawek Joseph E. Slawek, who played a vital role in a secret scientific project during World War II, died yesterday. He was 76 and lived in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. Slawek, an inventor and scientist, retired from the Philco Corp.

Wasylowskyj had worked for 28 in years at Yankee Maid, retiring 1981. After retiring, he became the landscaper for Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church and was instrumental in starting the "Pyrohy Workers" in the parish. They made potato dumplings and sold them to area stores. In 1988, Wasylowskyj was honored by the church with a plaque recog. nizing his more than 20 years of service to the choir.
