25 PHIUCELPHIft BAUV NEWS JUNE 15, 1912 Foi'ei Theater Gets Shot in Arm horn Hock It'' warmth of the Tower itself. FIRST OPENED in 1928 as a vaudeville house, most recently remodeled in 1966, the Tower is a beautiful blending of Romanesque columns, velvet brocade wallpaper, satin drapes and marble stairways. Nirvana at 69th and Market. The happiest man in the house last right could have been Ben Zimmerman, the grey haired general manager of the A. M.

Ellis chain, who negotiated the rental of this movia grinder to Midnight Sun. "The Tower was never meant to be a movie theater," scoffed Mr. Zimmerman. "We're hoping that these rock shows are a shot in the arm to bring back the old here. We've bent over Lwn.wards on rent to these folks, to help make it a success." Grinning Buzz Linhart, a good time wail and scat singer, made lots of friends for the Tower with his positive "life-force" ditties.

CONTINUING the "good vibrations" theme was headli-ner Dave Mason with "AH Join In," "Feeling Alright" and "Take the Time to Be Free." Backing Mason's crystal crooning and vibrant guitar are a trio of funky black ladies (The Painter Sisters), Steve Miller alumnus Lonnie Turner on bass, drummers Rick Jaeger and "Rock" Dzidzornu (from Ghana), keyboardist Mark Jordan. My compliments to the chef. Outlaws Beat Warriors The Eastern Warriors were defeated last night in the first double-header of the Eastern Presidential Cup Roller Games playoff at the Cherry Hill Arena, 73-72. The Texas Outlaws out-wheeled the Warriors in the final minutes with the help of Larry Lewis, who scored 18 points. Pacing the Warriors was Butch McCrae with 17 points.

In the first game the Northern Hawks defeated the New York Bombers, 63-62. By JONATHAN TARIFF "Hey man, this place is classier than the Fillmore ever was. And aren't they running it well?" enthused BuEzy Linhart from the expansive stage of Upper Darby's Tower Theater last night. Indeed, it is, they were. Apart from running an hour late in beginning the second show, the Tower's premiere as a rock hall (under the sponsorship of Rick Green's Jersey-based Midnight Sun Co.) was an unquestionable smash.

NEAR-CAPACITY crowds (the second show sold out) warmly greeted the beautifully articulated, spiritually uplifting, jazzy-rock sounds of Dave Mason and Buzzy Linhart, the mood enhanced by Bill McManus sensitive lighting and a first-class sound system. A large crew of young ticket takers and ushers proved downright courteous the and equally efficient in their duties, And perhaps most gracious of all in the "ambience" department seemed the physical Starting Times for Stage and 1 '4" Buzz Linhart: "Life-force" ditties TONIGHT IS THI PIRFICT MICHT TO GO OUT TO AMOVIE1 Screen Shows MIDTOWN "Fritz The Cat." 11, 12:35, 2:10, 5:20, 7, 8:35, 10:10.
