He spent 21 years with Little, Brown and resigning to enter the Army during the Second World War. He was employed by the Lee Higginson Corp. of Boston from 1946 to 1949, when he joined Harvard as administrative officer and director of re search.

He retired in 1959. Alexander Gerasimov, Stalin's favorite artist, in Moscow. He was 82. He painted a long series of oilj and water color portraits of the late dictator which won him the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, four Stalin Prizes and a seat in Parliament. Mr.

Gerasimov was president of the Academy of Arts when Stalin died in March, 1953, and hung on to the post until 1956, when he was dropped as a sym-i bol of repressive artistic poli-j cies.
