By Maida Odom Inquirer Staff Writer Hundreds of mourners filed past the open coffin of underworld figure Frank Sindone in South Philadelphia last night to pay their respects to the man who had run the loan-sharking operations under organized crime boss Angelo Bruno. Sindone, 52, was slain last week gangland-style just as Bruno was in March with two shots in the head. Last night the body was dressed immaculately, in a dark gray suit, white shirt and white tie, his familiar horned-rimmed glasses on his head and a rosary in his hands. "I feel sorry for him," said one man, puffing on a cigarette outside the funeral home. "It's a shame; he was a good man, Sindone.

He was a big man in the Mafia. I don't know Obituaries Kerry Tate, 15, victim of rare blood disease Kerry Isadore Tate, 15, who had spent eight months in isolation at Children's Hospital for treatment of a rare blood disease, died unexpectedly over the weekend. A nurse at the hospital said the youth appeared fine when she looked in on him at 11:45 p.m. Friday. But when she checked again at 12:10 a.m.

Saturday, Kerry was dead. Doctors and nurses worked for more than- an hour to revive him, and were able to restore his heartbeat, but Kerry never regained consciousness. Kerry was the subject of an Oct. 19 Inquirer story on bone-marrow transplantation, a new treatment for some blood diseases. Kerry was given a bone-marrow transplant in January to treat aplastic anemia, a rare disease that destroys the marrow, which manufactures blood.

Because the treatment temporarily renders the patient vulnerable to infection, Kerry was kept in isolation from Jan. 16 until he was discharged from the hospital on Aug. 27, longer than anyone else treated for the disease at Children's. Kerry did not gain adequate weight during his time at home, however, and his liver didn't seem to be recovering from damage caused by the transplantation procedure. So three weeks ago, he was re-admitted to the hospital.

He appeared to be doing well in the hospital. He gained weight, and his liver appeared to be regaining proper function. But then he died. The preliminary analysis of an autopsy has failed to explain the cause of death. Kerry, who lived at 6348 Ross St.

in Germantown, is survived by his mother, Bobbie Jean Watson; his father, Waymond Kenneth Tate; his stepfather, John V. Watson; two sisters, Kia and Kelly, and a brother, Kenny. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. M. Halloran, 77, clubwoman Margaret Schneider Halloran, 77, an active clubwoman, died Sunday at her home on Grays Lane, Haverford.

She also maintained residences in Longport, N.J., and Bal Harbour, Fla. Mrs. Halloran, the wife of Harry R. Halloran, president of the Conduit Foundation was a graduate of Hallahan High School and the Emily Crider Norris Finishing School. An associate of the Knights and Ladies Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, she was active in the Women's Committee for Wills Eye Hospital, the Women's Auxiliary of the Catholic Philopatrian Literary Institute of Philadelphia, the White-marsh Country Club Bridge Ladies, and the Bala Cynwyd Garden Club.

Past president of the Oak Lane Review Club, she was a former member of the board of St. Edmond's Home for Crippled Children. Also surviving are four sons, Harry Edward Richard J. and Thomas six grandchildren and two brothers." A viewing will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mcllvaine Funeral Home, 3711 Midvale Ave.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, Pennswood Road and Lancaster Avenue, Bryn Mawr. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Wyndmoor. Frederick C. Blair Frederick C.

Blair, 68, a steamfitter for D.J. Keating Construction Co. for more than 30 years, died Friday while visiting a sister in St. Petersburg, Fla. He lived in Ridley Park.

Mr. Blair, who retired three years ago, was a member of Steamfitters 420 and of St. Madeline's Church in Ridley Park. He was a veteran of World War II and had lived in Ridley Park for 16 years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth a son, Michael McAtee; three daughters, Maria and Theresa McA-ce and Catherine Littleton, and two why they killed him." Sindone's coffin rested amid banks of red and white flowers with a crucifix hanging among the floral display at the Pennsylvania Burial 1327 S.

Broad St. "Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!" wailed one mourner, believed to be one of Sindone's relatives, as she viewed the body. About 30 members of Sindone's family he was not married and another 20 friends sat in the large room and received condolences from the steady stream of mourners that included well-dressed men, women and some nuns. In contrast to the thousands who came to Bruno's viewing, which was also held at the Pennsylvania Burial a few hundred came last night. Frank Sheeran, head of Teamsters Local 236 in Wilmington, attended last night's viewing, as he had Bru Hermione Kessler Saler HermioneSaler, 65; was active in civic groups Hermione Kessler Saler, 65, who was active in many civic groups, died Monday at Pennsylvania Hospital.

A former resident of the Merion area, she lived in Center City. Mrs. Saler for years was a member of the board and for a decade served as treasurer of the Rittenhouse Square Women's Committee for the Philadelphia Orchestra, and was honored for her work last year with a special award presented by Eugene Ormandy. She also was a member of the board of the Main Line Symphony Orchestra. Her concern for adolescent girls led her to found the Teen-Aid Association.

Mrs. Saler also was a volunteer at the Free Library on Rittenhouse Square and at its new gift shop. She was also a volunteer worker at the Philadelphia Psychiatric Center. Her interests led to the organization of the Henrietta Szold chapter of Hadassah, and to raising funds for Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
