Canned goods on sale In Pennsylvania are in comparatively good shape, according, to the first of the chemists' reports on the samples of tinned vegetables and meats recently taken by the Dairy and Food Division pt the State Department of Agriculture. The worst thing was starch "filler" in some of the meats. Until reports are received from the other chemists, who are analyzing samples, the department will have no report to make on the general conditions.

One can of potted ham contained four and a half per cent, of starch. Some of the so-called "pastes" and also were found to contain starch, which serves the double purpose of "Cing in? and absorbing the water: The vegetables are reported as generally Jalton Mary E. C. P. Ennis.

Death of Dr. W. S. Kooker Dr. W.

S. Kooker, 68 years old, of 11 Saunders avenue, a widely known veterinarian, died on Saturday, unexpectedly, though he had not been in robust health for some time.
